Cheshire East Council - Local Plan Shaping Cheshire East Together 
 
Cheshire East Council is preparing a new local plan, which will set the vision for the future development of the area. It will also include planning policies, allocate sites for development, and form the basis for making decisions on planning applications into the 2040s. The new local plan will also be the minerals and waste plan for Cheshire East. 
 
The preparation of the local plan is guided by the government’s new plan-making system. As required by the regulations, the council has published its notice of intention to commence local plan preparation and its local plan timetable. 
 
The next stage is to run a local plan scoping consultation, to seek views from residents and stakeholders on what the new local plan should contain, and how future consultation and engagement should be carried out. Cheshire East are now inviting views on the scoping consultation until 5pm on 1st September 2026.
